Banking and Financial Services Beyond Y2K? IDC’s European IT Banking Forum Highlights Strategies for the New Millennium
London, September 2, 1999 – Attendees of International Data Corporation's (IDC's) fourth annual European IT Banking Forum will learn first-hand from IDC analysts and banking industry gurus how to revamp banking and finance initiatives to maximize profits and increase prosperity in the new millennium. This two-day event, scheduled for November 29-30 in Milan, will thoroughly examine emerging market opportunities, successful partnership models, and best practice scenarios.
"With mergers and acquisitions activity on the increase, European banks have started the process of consolidation that will enable them to compete on equal terms with the American giants," said Roberto Masiero, President of IDC Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). "As the banking and financial services arena is evolving, non-banking players are entering the market, creating a more competitive environment for the traditional banks." Banking and financial institutions, and particularly their IT departments, will be required to make many changes in order to adapt to this new situation. In addition, service providers will need to offer a wider range of solutions to cope with industry demand.
