Charles C. Greco Named ‘I Migliori’ Award Recipient
FRAMINGHAM, MASS. — 03/14/2000 — Charles C. Greco, President and CEO of IDG World Expo, the world's leading producer of IT-focused conferences and expositions, has been named one of the recipients of the prestigious "I Migliori in Mens et Gesta" Award, to be given by the Pirandello Lyceum during its benefit dinner on April 8, 2000.
The "I Migliori" award is presented annually to ten men and women of Italian descent who have made important contributions to American society. The award, literally translated "the best in thought and action," has been bestowed upon Boston Mayor Thomas Menino and Massachusetts Governor Paul Cellucci as well as dozens of other distinguished Italian Americans. Boston Magazine has identified the Pirandello "I Migliori" award as the most prestigious honor to be received by a person of Italian descent. "Charlie Greco is indicative of the high caliber of individuals who are deserving of the `I Migliori' distinction," said Peter J. Ingeneri, President and Chairman of the Board of the Pirandello Lyceum. "His commitment to his community and his leadership in the IT industry have earned him the respect and admiration of his peers. We are proud to bestow this honor upon him."
As President and CEO of IDG World Expo, Greco has made a significant contribution to the Boston community with a 19-year track record of accomplishment in the Information Technology and trade show industries. Greco's leadership has helped attract a new generation of IT events to Massachusetts through the successful launch of technology shows such as Internet Commerce Expo (ICe), Linux World Conference & Expo, Windows 2000 Conference & Expo, ASP World, MACWORLD Expo and ComNet.
Greco started his career at International Data Corp. (IDC), the world's leading provider of information technology data, industry analysis and strategic and tactical guidance to builders, providers and users of information technology. Among the first of his many accomplishments was the creation of the industry's first "bluebook" for computer technology, similar to the auto industry's version. This included the first-ever model for projecting the residual or future value of technology and quickly became the industry standard for the investment banking community. In 1998, Greco was named President and CEO of IDG World Expo.
March 27 -30, Greco's IDG World Expo company will draw more than 13,000 CEOs, CIOs, IT professionals, network managers and sales and marketing executives to the Internet Commerce Expo (ICe) in Boston's World Trade Center. Massachusetts Governor Paul Cellucci has proclaimed March 27-31, 2000 "Internet Commerce Week" to coincide with the eBusiness show and to recognize Internet commerce as an important industry in the Bay State. The ICe conference and exposition is the country's largest event focused exclusively on the tools, products and services designed for business-to-business electronic commerce.
