CHEN PR and Network World Host Technology Community Holiday Fundraiser for Hurricane Survivors

WALTHAM, MA & SOUTHBOROUGH, MA – NOVEMBER 1, 2005 – CHEN PR and Network World today announced they will join forces to sponsor a technology community holiday fundraiser to benefit survivors of the 2005 hurricane season. All funds raised from the evening, "Bridging the Gulf: A Technology Community Benefit for Hurricane Survivors," will go directly to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.

This year's hurricane season has been called the biggest disaster the Red Cross and the U.S. have ever faced. Because of the scope of the relief effort, for the first time the Red Cross has had to borrow funds. While $2.3 billion is needed, only about $1.3 billion has been raised, and the Red Cross already has had to borrow approximately $340 million to provide relief.

There are urgent needs in a number of areas including food and shelter, emergency financial assistance and physical and mental health services. Red Cross relief efforts to date include:

— Financial assistance to more than 1.2 million families (more than 3.7 million hurricane survivors)

— More than 24.5 million hot meals and more than 17.2 million snacks have reached hurricane survivors

— 190,000+ Red Cross disaster relief workers from all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands have responded to their neighbors in need

— Close to 4 million overnight stays in nearly 1,100 shelters across 27 states and the District of Columbia
