CXO Media Announces 4th Executive Policy Forum

FRAMINGHAM, MA – DECEMBER 4, 2003 – IDG’s CXO Media (publisher of CIO and CSO magazines) announces its fourth Executive Policy Forum will be held January 12th at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. CXO Media’s Executive Policy Forum™, convening hundreds of government leaders with corporate CEOs, chief information officers (CIOs), chief security officers (CSOs) and other security professionals, will focus on the theme: Securing Our Future: Balancing Homeland Security with Corporate Prosperity. Featuring a live event, webcast and satellite broadcast, the forum serves as the kickoff to an official U.S. Department of Homeland Security event hosted by the Information Analysis and Infrastructure Protection (IAIP) Directorate. The IAIP Directorate merges the capability to identify and assess a broad range of critical infrastructure and cyber intelligence information concerning threats to the homeland under one roof, to issue timely warnings and to take appropriate preventive and protective action.

“In convening the nation’s chief thought-leaders, the CXO Media Executive Policy Forum always produces lively conversation, debate and ideas,” says Lew McCreary, Editorial Director of CXO Media Inc. and Editor in Chief of CSO magazine. “We’re happy to provide our readers with the opportunity to interact with leaders from DHS and hope this forum underscores continued collaboration and partnership between DHS and private sector organizations.”

Launched in September 2000, the forum is designed to bring government and business leaders together to discuss security risks to the U.S. economy, as well as explore critical infrastructure security practices. Executive Policy Forum 4 is the first in its series to seek and receive underwriter support. This year’s underwriting companies are Cigital, Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO), Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) and Symantec (NASDAQ: SYMC).

Harvard Law Professor and former ABC-TV legal editor Arthur R. Miller will return to moderate and facilitate the dialogue between industry and government leaders about Securing Our Future: Balancing Homeland Security with Corporate Prosperity. The discussion will address what new laws Congress may enact to protect the homeland and preserve commerce, what new liability and privacy dilemmas will confront corporate America and how to minimize risk and maximize resiliency in a transformed business environment.

In addition to Miller, speakers/participants to date include:

• Robert Kuttner, co-founder and co-editor, The American Prospect; economic analyst; author and contributing columnist to BusinessWeek

• Frank Libutti, Undersecretary of Information Analysis and Infrastructure Protection, U.S. Department of Homeland Security

• Abbie Lundberg, Editor in Chief of CIO magazine

• Lew McCreary, Editorial Director of CXO Media and Editor in Chief of CSO magazine

• Jeffrey Rosen, George Washington University Law Professor; legal affairs editor of The New Republic; and author of the forthcoming The Naked Crowd: Reclaiming Security and Freedom in an Anxious Age
