Distinguished Industry Consultant Amy Wohl Joins The SaaScon Advisory Board
FRAMINGHAM, MA – DECEMBER 6, 2006 – IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows, conferences and events, today announced that Amy Wohl, President of Wohl Associates, is the latest to join an already distinguished group of SaaScon advisory board members that includes Jeff Kaplan of THINKstrategies, John Gallant of Network World Inc., and Phil Wainewright of Procullux Ventures. The second annual SaaScon event is scheduled to take place April 17-18, 2007 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA.
"Having someone like Amy Wohl join the advisory board is truly a feather in our caps," said Patty Caron, vice president, SaaScon. "She is well respected within the industry and will add valuable insight in helping us determine content focus for the show."
Amy D. Wohl has been commenting on, consulting to, and writing about the computer industry for more than 30 years. She is the editor of Amy D. Wohl's Opinions, an e-newsletter and blog which focuses on emerging technologies. Her newest blog is on SaaS. Her consulting practice focuses on emerging technologies and concepts and the markets they create. She helps vendors explore these opportunities, often defining the terms of new markets in the process, and assisting in planning marketing and positioning efforts. She has authored many white papers on new technology markets. She teaches a graduate course on commercializing new technology at the University of Pennsylvania. She is currently working on a book at how to succeed at SaaS.
"SaaS, formerly referred to as ASP, experienced many failures back in the nineties, not because it was a bad idea but because of execution. Very few had figured out how to successfully execute in this new market and they paid the price, said Amy Wohl. "The technology and capability to deliver software as a service is more proven today and I'm thrilled to be a part of this executive advisory board and a pioneer for the future of software as a service."
SaaScon is designed for business and technical professionals seeking to learn about the latest offerings from providers and how they can incorporate SaaS offerings into their business environments. The conference will also offer real-world case study examples and strategies of SaaS implementations across a broad spectrum of industries.
