Dozens of New Products, New Educational Opportunities on Tap For Linuxworld San Francisco

FRAMINGHAM, MA – JULY 29, 2003 – IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows, conferences and events for technology markets, today announced that next week's LinuxWorld Conference & Expo® will feature dozens of product launches from leading developers of Linux and open source solutions, as well as a full schedule of keynotes, special presentations and educational sessions designed for users of all levels and backgrounds. LinuxWorld Conference & Expo will take place at San Francisco's Moscone Center, August 4-7, 2003.


More than 150 companies will showcase Linux and open source solutions on the LinuxWorld exhibit floor. Exhibiting companies include Computer Associates, Dell, HP, IBM, Intel, Novell, Oracle, Pogo Linux, Red Hat, Sun Microsystems, Supermicro Computer and VERITAS, as well as dozens of smaller developers and start-ups displaying innovative new products for users of Linux and open source.

Addison-Wesley/Prentice Hall PTR (booth 689) will host book signings with Bruce Perens, Mark Sobell, Marcel Gagne and Leon Atkinson on Wednesday, August 6 from 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Aduva Inc. (booth 1766) will introduce OnStage 2.0, a suite that increases an IT department's ability to build, deploy and maintain an up-to-date, secure and reliable software environment on Linux servers, as well as SoundCheck, a free tool that scans Linux servers for potential problems that could cause application failures or security leaks.

Avocent (booth 1373) will showcase a new SwitchView® KVM switch and integrated USB hub that allows users to use a single keyboard, monitor and mouse to access up to four computers and share access to multiple USB devices.

Cyclades Corporation (booth 1273) will introduce its AlterPath Manager™, an out-of-band network management gateway that lets users view, manage and access the console ports of servers and network nodes using one appliance.

Equinox (booth 1375) will demonstrate its new ESP-2 MI that now features a Web browser management utility; this compact device uses a browser to simplify the configuration process of serial devices with open protocols, and now provides intuitive monitoring and administration capabilities.

LinuxWorld Magazine (booth 1190), published by SYS-CON Media, will introduce its premier issue, supplying corporate IT and business leaders with the knowledge and background they seek to inform their decisions about the Linux OS.

MacroImpact, Inc. (booth R3) will introduce SANique CFS, a journaling cluster file system for SAN-based cluster servers designed to meet commercial-grade mission-critical I/O requirements while providing 24×7 high availability and multi-way concurrent file sharing.

ObjectWeb Consortium (booth .org 0) will announce JOnAS 3.2, an upgrade to its open source application server that provides an industrial-quality open source middleware solution for mission critical application developers.

Parasoft (booth 150) will introduce SOAPtest 2.0 for Linux, an Automated Error Prevention tool for Web services and enterprise applications built with SOAP that performs server functional testing, load testing and client testing.

StarNet Communications Corp. (booth 1282) will launch StarNetSSH, an SSH client integrated with the X-Win32 X Windows emulator, that will speed up traffic between Windows computers and remote Linux servers by a factor of 3 to 5.

Tatung (booth 162) will introduce the TUD-3114 blade server, which features 14 Intel Xeon Processor server blades, dual gigabit Ethernet switches, dual management blades and management software in a 3U chassis, all with low power consumption.

VERITAS Software (booth 446) will introduce the VERITAS Cluster Server™ agents, which continually monitor the health of cluster resources and increase the availability of Linux enterprise environments running IBM DB2, MySQL and Oracle databases.

VIA Technologies Inc. (booth 1776) will demonstrate Linux-based robots developed by SRI International, called "Centibots," which will conduct a search and rescue mission for a hidden penguin doll during a special event in the Taste of Linux pavilion at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6.

Xandros, Inc. (booth R10) is sponsoring a "$100,000 Giveaway" in which the first 1,012 conference attendees to register at their booth will receive a free boxed version of Xandros Desktop Deluxe, the award-winning software that leverages the performance and reliability of Linux to create a secure desktop that seamlessly integrates with existing enterprise environments.
