FRAMINGHAM, MA – DECEMBER 10, 2002 – Keynoters will share visions for the future in the post-genomicera IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows, conferences and events for IT markets, today announced the keynote line-up for the upcoming Bio-ITWorld Conference & Expo, taking place at Boston's Hynes Convention Center March 25-27, 2003. Bio-ITWorld, the only event exclusively focused on technology tools for the life sciences, will feature keynotes from the industry's most respected experts sharing their perspectives and visions for the future. Keynoters will include Dr. Francis S. Collins, director of the National Human Genome Research Institute at the National Institutes of Health; Dr. Caroline A. Kovac, general manager of IBM Life Sciences; and Dr. Stephen H. Friend, president of Rosetta Inpharmatics and vice president of Molecular Profiling at Merck Research Laboratories.
Bio-ITWorld Conference & Expo is returning to Boston in a larger facility following its launch at the World Trade Center Boston in March 2002, and its successful West Coast debut in San Diego in November 2002. Dr. Collins will look at the promise of genome research in clinical medicine, as well as its continued ethical, legal and social implications.
Dr. Kovac's keynote on Wednesday, March 26 will examine information-based medicine, ranging from pharmacogenomics and systems biology to molecular diagnostics and presymptomatic testing. Bio-ITWorld attendees will also hear about IT's crucial role in gene array technologies from Dr. Friend on Thursday, March 27.
Keynote speakers will be on hand for small-group Q&A sessions following their presentations. Further information will be posted on the Bio-ITWorld Conference & Expo Web site as it becomes available.
"We couldn't ask for a better line-up of keynote speakers than these three highly respected, extraordinary individuals," said Charlie Greco, president and CEO, IDG World Expo. "Bio-ITWorld attendees will benefit from their extensive experience in the industry, gaining valuable knowledge and insight. We're excited to bring such a top-notch program back to Boston in March."
