FRAMINGHAM, MA – NOVEMBER 6, 2002 – IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows, conferences and events for IT markets, today announced the keynote line-up for LinuxWorld Conference & Expo/New York 2003, taking place January 21-24, 2003 at New York City's Javits Center. As the premier event exclusively focused on Linux and Open Source solutions, LinuxWorld will feature presentations by top executives from AMD, IBM and Dell, as well as a real-world financial services case study presented by Red Hat.
AMD President and CEO Hector Ruiz will kick off the event with his opening keynote presentation on Wednesday, January 22 at 10:30 a.m.
"AMD has always been a strong proponent of competition and of the benefits competition brings to our customers, which is why we're so excited about the growth of Linux," said Ruiz. "Together, AMD and the open-source community are helping to offer new possibilities in 64-bit computing that give businesses and governments alike technology choices they have never had. We're looking forward to LinuxWorld, since it offers AMD a great opportunity to engage in a dialogue with all the key players in this industry, as well as the Open Source community."
Red Hat CTO Michael Tiemann will take the stage with an executive from a financial services firm that recently implemented Red Hat Linux on Wednesday, January 22 at 1:30 p.m. Eastern time.
Other keynote presentations include:
Steven A. Mills, senior vice president and group executive, IBM; Thursday, January 23 at 10:30 a.m.
Randy Mott, senior vice president and CIO, Dell Computer Corporation; Thursday, January 23, 1:30 p.m.
Professionals from financial services, retail, manufacturing and government will join Linux and Open Source community veterans to hear these and other presentations from industry luminaries at LinuxWorld Conference & Expo. Attendees will learn strategies for implementing Linux and Open Source solutions for their businesses, as well as what works and what doesn't from those who have already made the leap.
"Usage of Linux and Open Source continues to grow exponentially, so it is critical that corporate and IT professionals have a forum to learn about implementation strategies and listen to real-world case studies," said Rob Scheschareg, vice president of sales, marketing and product development, IDG World Expo. "We're confident that LinuxWorld attendees will walk away from these keynotes with valuable new insights on how Linux and Open Source can help them save money and increase efficiency."
