Exhibitions for Africa to Bring LinuxWorld to Futurex 2005
JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA – SEPTEMBER 30, 2004 – After successful events in the US, Japan and Germany, amongst others, Exhibitions for Africa in cooperation with IDG World Expo will organise and host the South Africa version of LinuxWorld Conference & Expo™. The exhibition and conference will be collocated with Futurex 2005, which takes place at the Sandton Convention Centre between 17-20 May 2005. The launch is in keeping with Exhibitions for Africa’s mission to build a representative knowledge and orientation platform for local IT professionals.
David Korse, president of IDG World Expo, is confident about the planned roll-out in South Africa. “With eight shows worldwide, LinuxWorld has proved to meet a clear information need. Linux is the fastest growing operating system in the world. Predictions for the coming years indicate that Open Source is and will remain one of the major issues in IT. All the ingredients are there for a successful launch,” says Korse.
With the launch of LinuxWorld at Futurex, Exhibitions for Africa adds another notch to their ICT tradeshow “belt”. Aldean Prior, Director of the Futurex exhibition, had the following to say about the new addition to the ICT portfolio: “Exhibitions for Africa is already well-established as the leading business-to-business organisers in the exhibition industry and the growing success of our ICT shows Futurex and Futurex Cape – and Computer Faire and Computer Faire Cape before them – has given us a strong position in the local ICT industry and amongst ICT professionals. We will continue to grow and expand with the sector and LinuxWorld is another step in this direction”. The inaugural Futurex show, which took place in May this year, attracted 16 000 industry professionals over the four days.
Both Futurex 2005 and LinuxWorld can be visited with one and the same entry badge in May next year, but the two shows will be positioned and marketed separately.
