Experts to Lead Personalized Guided Tours and Intensive Workshops at Macworld Conference & Expo
FRAMINGHAM, MA – JANUARY 5, 2001 – IDG World Expo, producers of innovative IT conferences and expositions, announced today that it has enlisted the services of Mac industry experts to lead both highly personalized guided tours of the Expo floor as well as more than a dozen full-day workshops at its upcoming Macworld Conference & Expo. The event will be held January 9 – 12, 2001 at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco.
Experts Lead Personalized Tours
IDG World Expo first launched the Expo Tour Guide program at the New York Macworld Conference & Expo in July. The guides were so well received by attendees and exhibitors alike that IDG World Expo decided to incorporate the innovative service into the San Francisco show. Volunteers from the Apple User Group will be helping attendees navigate the floor and find what they need to achieve their business or personal-interest goals.
"Macworld Conference & Expo is the #1 technology event on the West Coast, with close to 300,000 square feet of floor space," said Rob Scheschareg, vice president of events, IDG World Expo. "A show of this magnitude can be intimidating, particularly for first-time attendees. These Expo Tour Guides use their intimate knowledge of the show to take people exactly where they need to go," he said.
Scheschareg added, "The guides are volunteers from Apple User Groups, and know the hottest Mac products, services and solutions. They’ll be a tremendous resource, whether you need to find a seat at a demonstration or the right person to answer a specific question," he said.
Experts Lead In-Depth Pre-Conference Workshops
Expertise is also a highly prized resource at Macworld Conference & Expo’s Pre-Conference Workshops, full-day sessions that will provide in-depth training on key Macintosh products and technologies.
"The experts leading these Pre-Conference Workshops are among the best and brightest in the Mac community," Scheschareg said. "They know their subject matter inside and out, and will be sharing what they know in high-energy, interactive sessions."
Past participants agree the workshops have great value. "I attended a Pre-Conference Workshop on PDF," said graphic designer Debbie Gowen, "and found it to be one of the most educational and to-the-point sessions I have ever attended. The speaker addressed every one of my questions."
The Pre-Conference Workshops will take place on Tuesday, January 9th, from noon until 7:00 pm. Topics include:
¨Practical Introduction to Mac Networking
¨Integrating Professional Publishing Tools
¨Managing Shared Macintosh Computers with Apple Macintosh Manager
¨The QuickTime Professionals Workshop
¨Your First Mac OS X Workshop
¨Getting Started with AppleScript
¨The FileMaker Workshop
¨Web Video Revolution Workshop
¨Final Cut Pro
¨Getting Started in Interactive Development
¨Web Animation Essentials, Tools and Techniques
¨PDF Secrets for Print or Web
¨Secrets of Shooting Great Video
"We’re very proud of the educational opportunities offered at Macworld Conference & Expo," said Scheschareg. "We think these in-depth Pre-Conference Workshops are of great value to attendees, and can really help them hone their Mac skills. Full-day sessions like these are another reason Macworld Conference & Expo is so powerful," he said.
Other highlights from the upcoming Macworld Conference & Expo include:
¨The Macworld Pro/Conference, which will present topics of interest to the computing professional using the Macintosh platform, offering sophisticated training on subjects like Mac Networking and Systems Administration for large organizations
¨The Macworld Users Conference, featuring 70 sessions by industry experts, ranging from a preview of the Mac OS X to instruction on how to create desktop movies
¨The MacBeginnings program, which will offer new Mac users valuable training as they get started with their first iMac or iBook
¨The debut of The Special Interest Boulevard, which will provide a showcase for up-and-coming companies, conveniently organized by specific industry areas
Other attractions and events are back by popular demand. The Internet Café will offer attendees the chance to relax, check email and chat with friends. The Digital Art Gallery, featuring original portraits created on the Mac, is returning for the third straight year. The Music and Audio Showcase and a live concert series will accentuate the musical and audio prowess of "the Mac in action," and the Macintosh Gaming Area will feature hands-on demonstrations of the hottest new games for the Mac.
