Financial Insights Expands Capital Markets Research Profile

FRAMINGHAM, MA – MARCH 4, 2007 – Global independent research and advisory firm Financial Insights, an IDC company, long known and respected for its market research offerings focused exclusively on the financial services industry, announced today that Julio Gomez has accepted a new position at Financial Insights as the Vice President of Capital Markets & Financial Markets Investor Research. Gomez is widely known and respected in the financial services industry as the founder and CEO of Gomez, Inc., which he grew into a leader in Internet quality measurement services by examining the online trading and online banking markets. Institutional Investor named him one of the "50 Most Influential People" as did Time Magazine, who named him one of the "Fifty Most Influential People in Shaping Technology". Before founding Gomez, Inc., Mr. Gomez was a capital markets executive for 11+ years.

He held Trading, Sales, and Corporate Finance positions with HSBC, Security Pacific, and Bank of Boston. Gomez also founded and ran his own brokerage firm specializing in state and local bond issues. Gomez will take over the capital markets and risk management research practices at Financial Insights, and will lead the creation of a new investment service offering. Further details of the new offering will be announced in early April, 2007.

"We think that there is tremendous opportunity to grow the capital markets practice at Financial Insights and to help our clients benefit from expert analysis of changes in this dynamic market," states Michon Schenck, chief operating officer, Financial Insights. "Given the importance and the visibility of this research, we clearly needed a heavy hitting executive to manage it. I cannot think of a more perfect candidate than Julio Gomez. He has been both a market practitioner, faced with the decisions every capital markets manager struggles with, as well as a market research executive who has carefully followed, evaluated, and advised industry executives on how to compete and grow in our market."

In addition to enhancing the capital markets research practice area, Financial Insights also expanded in Europe recently, hiring Parveen Bansal and Ricardo Arruda, analysts who joined the Financial Insights European Financial Services practice, which covers banking, brokerage, investments, and insurance segments and their underlying technology solutions in Europe.

Financial Insights has published its annual Top 10 Predictions report series for 2007 covering a variety of financial services segments including capital markets. New this year within the capital markets report, Worldwide Top 10 Strategic IT Initiatives for Capital Markets 2007 (#FIN205864, March 2007), Financial Insights detailed strategic initiatives for both the sell-side and the buy-side. The full report is available to qualified members of the media.
