Four Decades of CIO, CSO, InfoWorld and Network World Preserved in Searchable Google Magazine Archive

Framingham, MA – March 3, 2010 – Joining with Google in an ambitious project to digitize its publication archives, IDG Enterprise is enabling readers to access issues online of CIO, CSO, InfoWorld and Network World dating back to the late 1970s.

“The real value of this project to IDG is in having the content of our enterprise IT publications – going back decades – preserved for all time and accessible to researchers and historians around the world,” noted Matt Smith, senior VP, COO, IDG Enterprise.

Scanned and digitized by Google, the pages of each publication – including advertisements – have been compiled into a searchable archive available on Google Books. Each magazine issue contains an interactive table of contents with links to specific article pages. Users can also consult a tag cloud of common terms from the magazine that appears when they search the entire archive of a particular title.

Some microfilm issues of Computerworld have been posted dating back to 1967, when Computerworld debuted as the first IDG publication. The microfilm of the newspaper can be found on Google News Archives.

Google announced its initiative to archive magazines in December 2008, and IDG Enterprise titles now join over 90 other publications on the Google digital newsstand.

To access the archive, visit and click on the “Magazines” link.
