GamePro Magazine Announces Its Family Fun & Video Games Special Insert

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – JUNE 1, 2000 – IDG Games Media Group, the world’s largest interactive entertainment information provider for multiplatform gaming enthusiasts and publisher of GamePro magazine, the world’s largest multiplatform gaming magazine, and GamePro.com, the world’s premier entertainment destination for the Y-Generation, today announced the publication of GamePro Presents Family Fun & Video Games to be inserted in the June 1, 2000 national edition of USA Today, the nation’s # 1 daily newspaper.

Following on the heels of last year’s successful holiday games guide that was inserted into the November 22, 1999 issue of USA Today, GamePro is publishing a special 24 page color insert action-packed with expert editorial and ratings on the hottest games, consoles, PC’s, and handhelds along with the best in vacation destinations, movies, music and more.

"Research shows that teens have a high degree of influence over a wide variety of entertainment and vacation purchases. Over the past 11 years, GamePro’s editors have built an unique rapport with its teen readers and have become experts on knowing what they like to do for fun," said Wes Nihei, Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of GamePro. "This guide will become a trusted source for busy parents and gamers alike, and will take the guesswork out of family activity and vacation planning this summer."

In addition to the print insert, there will also be an online component of the guide with daily updates on GamePro.com’s highly trafficked home page and entertainment pages. The guide will be online all summer long, serving as a valuable resource for consumers planning their summer travel.

"The powerful GamePro brand is once again breaking new ground with the advent of the Family Fun and Video Games Guide reaching deep into the North American consumer market," said John F. Rousseau, President/CEO of IDG Games Media Group and Publisher of GamePro magazine. "As the 4th largest male teen magazine in the country, our audience is perfectly positioned to be the evangelists to the mass market."

GamePro’s Family Fun & Video Games Guide is a unique marketing vehicle for advertisers to promote their product to a strong reach of over 6 million valuable consumers.
