GamePro Magazine Sees Record Growth in Readership According to MRI Fall 2006
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – DECEMBER 7, 2006 – IDG Entertainment (IDGE), a leading interactive entertainment-information provider, announced today that GamePro magazine now reaches 3,499,000 readers, according to the recently released 2006 Fall MediaMark Research Inc. Survey of American Consumers.
The survey states that GamePro magazine’s readership has grown by a record 28% in the last year, the largest growth rate of any interactive games magazine surveyed (Fall 2005 vs. Fall 2006, MRI).
“We attribute much of this growth to the immutable strength of the GamePro brand and its ability to reach a category of gamers who are drawn to its distinct editorial personalities and voice,” said Daniel Orum, president of IDG Entertainment. “GamePro attracts a very active and vocal community of game enthusiasts who have found a safe haven in the positive environment and sense of fun that permeates both the print and online products.”
GamePro magazine’s sister web site, GamePro.com, has also seen record growth in popularity. Since the site was redesigned in May of this year the number of monthly page views has increased by 164% and the quantity of user submitted content has grown by more than 20 times (April 2006 vs. November 2006, WebSideStory).
GamePro magazine’s March 2007 issue will feature a comprehensive redesign that will showcase larger high-definition images now available from the new generation of games, a new community section for reader-submitted content called “The Hub”, more coverage of the consumer electronics, movies and music gamers want, and an increase in the number of gamers reviewed and previewed in every issue.
