GridWorld Announces Winners Of The Inaugural ”Industry Leadership Awards”
SEPTEMBER 12, 2006 – IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows, conferences and events for technology markets, today announced that Dr. Ian Foster, chief open source strategist, Argonne National Laboratory, University of Chicago, Univa Corp. and IBM are the first ever winners of the inaugural GridWorld "Industry Leadership Awards." The awards were presented at the annual GridWorld conference earlier this afternoon in Washington D.C.
The awards were conceived in an effort to recognize an individual and an organization for their contributions in building grid awareness by providing technical and business leadership in bringing the technology of Grid and Service-Oriented IT solutions to the market.
"I am extremely honored to receive such a significant award and be recognized by my peers in the grid community at large," said Dr. Ian Foster. "I look forward to a continued role in furthering the awareness and momentum of grid technology in the commercial market space."
"IBM is honored to be recognized by GridWorld for leading the industry in helping customers improve productivity and efficiency with world class Grid computing solutions," said Ken King, vice president, Grid Computing, IBM. "As a pioneer and leader in open standards-based Grid computing solutions, we look forward to accelerating customer adoption of Grid solutions based on the success our many customers have experienced."

The winners were chosen from an impressive group of finalists by the GridWorld Advisory Board, which includes Mike Bernhardt, Tabor Communications; Carol Carson, IBM; Cheryl Doninger, SAS Institute; Robert Fogel, Intel; Andrew Grimshaw, University of Virginia; Andy Mulholland, CapGemini; Greg Nawrocki, Globus Consortium; Dave Pearson, Oracle; and Gary Tyreman, Platform Computing.
