IDC Adds Additional Leadership to Its Storage Research Team
FRAMINGHAM, MA – APRIL 16, 2001 – IDC today added a seasoned industry veteran to its storage research team. Paul Mason, IDC’s group vice president of Infrastructure Software research, announced Bill North has joined the software group as director of Storage Management Software research. He joins a large team of storage systems experts to enhance IDC’s coverage of storage solutions.
North has more than 20 years of storage-side experience. He comes to IDC from Adaptec, where he was director of Business Development. Prior to that, he was director of Storage Networking Programs, Strategic Initiatives Group, at VERITAS. There, he developed a road map for integration of VERITAS’ products into a coherent storage area network (SAN) offering; established and managed strategic partnership programs for SAN, management, and infrastructure partners and systems vendors; and drove engineering and marketing participation in standards bodies and consortia.
North also served as vice president of Business Development at Mylex Corporation and director of Advanced Products at Storage Dimensions – two companies involved in various parts of the storage hardware business.
Outside the office, North chairs the Education Committee for the Storage Networking Industry Association. He has been involved with this organization and its member companies since its inception.
"Bill’s innovation, strategic thinking, and strong leadership skills will be a tremendous value-add to IDC," Mason said. "Additionally, his knowledge of both systems and software aspects of storage will provide our customers with extreme intelligence about the future dynamics of this important market area. We look forward to having Bill on our team and sharing in our commitment to providing timely and insightful analysis to our customers."
North carries a double degree in Electrical Engineering and Humanities and Engineering from MIT. He can be contacted at IDC at email@example.com.
