IDC Enhances Its Commercial Systems and Servers Primary Research Staff

FRAMINGHAM, MASS., MARCH 14, 2000 — IDC today expanded its already-broad commercial systems and servers research team. Vernon Turner, the group's vice president, announced Matthew Eastwood has joined the program as research manager. In his new role, Eastwood will focus on primary research, custom consulting, and multiclient studies.

Vendors competing in the commercial systems and servers space are dealing with several critical issues, including consolidation, clustering, the emergence of Intel and Linux servers, and the impact of Internet service providers as well as application service providers. Eastwood's responsibilities will include advising clients on these issues as well as guiding them on future product direction, competitive analysis, and other industry trends.

"Matt brings additional thought leadership and a global perspective to the group. These are fundamental requirements when you are engaged in multifaceted server projects," Turner said.

Eastwood is not new to IDC. He has been working in the company's Asset Management Services program as research manager since January.

Prior to joining IDC, Eastwood was employed at Camp Dresser & McKee, a large international environmental consulting firm, where he spent 12 years. His most recent position was senior project manager and operations manager in the firm's New England area practice.
