IDC Expands Its Global Presence by Launching Additional Subsidiaries on Three Continents

FRAMINGHAM, MA – FEBRUARY 10, 2003 – IDC, the premier market intelligence and advisory firm, continued its global expansion over the past six months with the formation of wholly-owned subsidiaries in Austria, Mexico and Taiwan. The new subsidiaries further extend IDC’s understanding of local markets by introducing experienced research personnel and proven methodologies into each of these markets.

Each of the new subsidiaries builds on an established research presence in the host country. Over the past decade, IDC has worked with local partners to provide in-country research in each of these markets. The new offices enable IDC to provide greater insight into the local IT markets and to develop new products and services that meet the needs of these markets.

In addition to opening new research offices in Europe, Latin America, and Asia/Pacific, IDC continues to expand its presence through the creation of new research services. In November 2002, IDC acquired Meridien Research and in January 2003 launched Financial Insights, an independent

research and advisory firm focused on financial services markets around the world. Similarly, IDC launched a new research initiative, Bio-IT Infrastructure, focusing on the life sciences and healthcare market during the first half of 2002.
