IDC Hires Marc Laporte To Take IDC France Forward
PARIS – FEBRUARY 27, 2003 – IDC announced the hiring of Marc Laporte, a 14-year veteran of the IT and Telecom industry, as new General Manager of IDC France. The position was previously held by Eric Ochs, who was recently named Managing Director, IDG France.
"Marc brings to IDC a unique blend of IT and telecom experience, as well as great management skills developed in such different areas as direct and indirect sales, marketing, and finance," said Roberto Masiero, president of IDC EMEA. Laporte brings a wealth of IT and telecom marketing and business unit management experience to IDC. Most recently, he was Managing Director, in charge of long distance telephony, data services and Internet activities for the SOHO and corporate market for Cegetel, a telecommunications company in fixed line and mobile services. Prior to that, he was Cegetel's Marketing Director in charge of strategy, new product development, advertising and lead generation as well as sales support for both fixed and mobile activities for the Corporate market.
Laporte started his career at Hewlett-Packard in 1989 where he held several positions in the PC and printer division, from Sales, where he was Finance Manager, to Channel Marketing and finally Communications Manager. Laporte was also a member of the Executive Committee of this division of HP France and was appointed Country Manager ad interim in 1997. He holds a Master of Science Degree in International Management from IMIP/MBA Institute Paris and an MBA from the University of Michigan .
