IDC IT Forum & Expo Adds Former U.S. Labor Secretary and Mexico’s Minister of Economy as Keynote Speakers
FRAMINGHAM, MA – MAY 9, 2006 – IDC today announced that former U.S. Secretary of Labor Robert Reich and Mexico's Minister of Economy Sergio Garcia de Alba Zepeda will be keynote speakers at IDC's IT Forum & Expo in Boston from June 14-16, 2006 (http://www.idcitexpo.com/). The IDC IT Forum & Expo is designed to provide IT and business executives with fresh perspectives on how technology can be used to drive business transformation and innovation.
Reich, now a Professor of Public Policy at the University of California at Berkeley, will speak about "change insurgency" — the mechanisms by which corporate bureaucracies can be transformed into quick moving SWAT teams that promptly discover what needs to be done for an organization to succeed, and effectively do it. Reich notes there are many obstacles to such an approach, and he will discuss how those obstacles can be overcome, and what will be the associated critical workforce issues facing leaders in the future.
Zepeda's keynote presentation, entitled "The Benefits of Mexico as a Global IT Sourcing Player," will address the subject of nearshoring, a topic of great interest within the U.S. manufacturing and technology sectors. With three different models for IT services delivery including offshore, onshore and nearshore, enterprises have many variables to weigh when making a decision in what is best for them. Zapeda will speak about the different models, the benefits and how companies can go through the decision process.
Reich and Zepeda are part of an impressive roster of keynoter speakers at the IDC IT Forum & Expo that includes: Robert B. Carter, Executive Vice President & CIO, FedEx Corp.; author and management educator Jim Collins; John Gallant, President and Editorial Director of Network World; and John Gantz, IDC's Chief Research Officer. They also join a line-up of feature presentations from a "who's who" of senior executives at blue chip companies, including Aetna, Austin Energy, BlueCross BlueShield, Boston Scientific Corp., Ford Motor Company, GE, HP, Merrill Lynch, MITRE, Priceline.com, Staples, Verizon, and Wm Wrigley, Jr. Company.
"We are very pleased that two leading figures on the global economic stage have agreed to share their perspectives with the audience at IDC's IT Forum & Expo," said Kirk Campbell, President and CEO of IDC. "The insight and thought leadership they offer is representative of the value we are delivering to more than 600 attendees, ranging from C-level executives and their direct reports to key technology and business managers."
The IDC IT Forum & Expo features a robust agenda of technology and business topics, including numerous case studies of successful technology-enabled business transformations from companies that got it right. The conference also offers three industry-specific tracks — for manufacturing, financial services, and healthcare — and an exclusive invitation-only CIO Summit for senior executives, which will provide a practical, hands-on approach to the imperatives that are crucial to the success of the CIO. IDC analysts will be available throughout the conference for private meeting with attendees. In addition, the conference features an expo floor showcasing the latest technology products and services from 40 companies to help attendees with their own organization's business transformation.
