IDC IT Forum & Expo and Inaugural CIO Summit Draw the Nation’s Elite IT Executives

FRAMINGHAM, MA – NOVEMBER 2, 2005 – IDC today announced its inaugural CIO Summit, a two-day event designed to address the challenges on a CIO's day-to-day agenda and provide actionable solutions based on first-hand experience. The CIO Summit will be held in conjunction with IDC's flagship conference – the IDC IT Forum & Expo – on June 14-15, 2006 at the Sheraton Boston Hotel.

The CIO Summit will feature case studies on a wide range of topics relevant to today's CIO. In addition, the Summit's solutions-oriented approach will offer a roadmap that CIOs can follow to create their own success stories by focusing on how their peers got it right. Among the issues to be addressed at the Summit are the following:

— The Five Secrets to the New IT Organization

— Documenting Business Performance: Connecting IT and Business Value

— Confronting the Legacy: How to Start Modernizing Applications, Information, and Architecture

— How to Structure People and Processes to Form a Dynamic IT Organization

— The CIO's New Supply Chain: Leveraging Partnerships to Develop an Efficient IT Organization

— The Myths and Realities of IT Governance

— Connectivity AND Confidentiality: A Case Study of a Successful CIO/CSO Partnership

— The Future of the CIO Role

"No one understands the day-to-day challenges of the CIO better than another CIO," said Frank Gens, Summit chairman and vice president for Research at IDC. "We wanted to create a real peer environment where CIOs can learn from each other's successes and failures and walk away with a fresh perspective on how to tackle their own individual challenges."

The Summit has already attracted top CIOs from leading enterprises across a broad range of industries. Attendees will hear from the following speakers: Larry Bonfante, CIO, United States Tennis Association (USTA); Frank Zupnick, CIO, GE Real Estate; Greg Smith, CIO, World Wildlife Fund; Rick Green, CIO, TriWest Healthcare Alliance; and Abbie Lundberg, Editor in Chief, CIO Magazine.

"The Summit has been well received and we're very pleased with the caliber of organizations that have responded so far," said Elizabeth Cutler, vice president for U.S. Conferences at IDC. "It's a good indication that the sessions resonate with our audience and they see real value in what the Summit has to offer."
