IDC Names Rick Nicholson VP of its Energy Insights Company
FRAMINGHAM, MA – December 8, 2004 – IDC today announced that it has appointed Rick Nicholson as the new Vice President of Energy Insights, IDC's latest industry research company. In this role, Nicholson will be responsible for the research and consulting offerings of Energy Insights, which provides energy and utility executives with market intelligence, competitive analysis, and demand-side adoption trends to guide them and help them identify emerging growth opportunities. Energy Insights will provide full coverage of the energy industry value chain from upstream activities to energy consumers.

Nicholson's most recent experience was as vice president of a large research and consulting firm where he co-founded the company's energy industry research and advisory offering and was responsible for business development and delivery of IT research, advisory, and consulting services to energy clients worldwide.
Nicholson also brings deep industry experience from consulting, software and hardware vendors where he was responsible for sales, marketing and delivery activities across various industry business units including utilities, public sector, and earth resources.
Nicholson is a well-sought after industry expert and has been a contributing writer to a variety of publications including Platt's Energy Business and Technology, Fortnightly's Energy Customer Management and Pennwell's Utility Automation. He has also been a regular speaker at industry conferences such as GITA and Distributech and has been interviewed on national television news programs.
