IDC Names Vernon Turner Vice President of Worldwide Commercial Systems and Servers Research

FRAMINGHAM, Mass., April 6, 1999 — International Data Corporation (IDC) today welcomed Vernon Turner as Vice President of its Worldwide Commercial Systems and Servers research program. In his new role, Mr. Turner will be responsible not only for analysis and commentary on key trends affecting the systems and server marketplaces, but also for the direction, content, and strategy of the group's research.

Mr. Turner brings a valuable customer perspective to IDC. Previously, he was employed by State Street Bank and Fidelity Investments as vice president of technology services. In those roles, he was responsible for supporting mainframe, midrange, and client/server environments as well as large disk and tape drives. Strategic planning and disaster recover planning also fell under his purview.

Vernon Turner will be based at IDC's corporate headquarters in Framingham, Mass. He has 20 years' IT industry experience in both the United Kingdom and the United States. He has participated in several vendor customer councils across the processor and storage disciplines and has spoken at various conferences for mainframe capacity planning. Mr. Turner is a graduate of Babson College's MBA program.
