IDC Partners with TPI and Milbank Tweed to Launch Business Process Outsourcing

FRAMINGHAM, MA – NOVEMBER 19, 2003 – IDC, the premier global market intelligence and advisory firm, today announced plans for the first IDC Outsourcing Forum. The conference, developed in partnership with TPI and Milbank Tweed, is designed to bring together senior executives charged with critical outsourcing decisions and provide insight into the potential that business process outsourcing (BPO) can deliver to their companies' bottom line. The theme for the two-day conference, to be held April 19-20, 2004 in New York City, will be "Improving SG&A Effectiveness Through Results-Driven BPO."

Driven by the need to optimize their business processes, many companies are turning to BPO solutions as a means of achieving not only their business performance objectives, but also as a technique for minimizing risk, focusing on their core business more quickly, and accessing updated technology. IDC expects the worldwide BPO services market to reach $1.2 trillion in 2006.

IDC has teamed up with TPI and Milbank Tweed to create a forum that addresses these key issues about BPO, delving into specific functional segments, such as HR, customer care, and F&A, as well as more "macro" BPO issues, including offshore sourcing and vendor management strategies. TPI's president and CEO, Dennis McGuire, IDC's services group vice president, Traci Gere, and Milbank Tweed's partner and head of the outsourcing practice, John Halvey, are co-chairing the event. Attendees will benefit from best practice case studies, as well as a self-assessment and feedback opportunity with an expert consultant who will provide essential guidance into their current BPO strategy.

"The focus of the IDC Outsourcing Forum is to provide a unique experience for attendees that other outsourcing conferences do not offer," said Elizabeth Cutler, vice president of IDC's US conference business. "IDC, TPI, and Milbank Tweed have done extensive work in BPO, offering years of insight into outsourcing strategy implementation."

"TPI's experience on more than 40 BPO engagements in the last few years gives us a unique perspective into the issues and challenges corporations face when considering outsourcing to improve their SG&A effectiveness," said Dennis McGuire. "We've helped design this conference to answer the questions we hear CFOs, directors of HR and Procurement, and CIOs asking."
