IDC Releases IDCNet Version 2.2
FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — 01/19/2000–International Data Corporation (IDC) recently released IDCNet version 2.2, IDC's interactive delivery mechanism for accessing IDC research online. This new version includes enhancements in three areas: a simplified user registration process, with a new bulk registration capability and Umbrella Key function to get more users registered in less time; more capabilities for the corporate administrator for seat management and user control; and a more intuitive user interface to enable users to more efficiently locate the research they need.
IDC made these enhancements based on feedback from its clients.
"IDC has listened to our feedback and implemented several new features that really make a difference," said Shelley Motley, manager of Global Research Services at Symantec Corporation. "I use IDCNet every day, and as the IDCNet corporate administrator for my organization, I am especially excited about the new user registration options and administrator functions, which save me time when it comes to managing my user base."
IDCNet 2.2 Detailed Feature Enhancement List
Simplified User Registration
— A new bulk-registration feature enables the corporate administrator to register and/or delete a group of users all at once by simply uploading a formatted file to the IDCNet server for auto-processing.
— A new Umbrella Key, useful for accounts with multiple Group Access Keys, enables user registration by simply entering the Umbrella Key instead of multiple Group Access Keys.
— Users may specify their desired username and password at registration time.
More Control for the Corporate Administrator
— Corporate administrators may delete users.
— Corporate administrators may re-send any particular user a reminder email containing his/her username and password.
— Corporate administrators are automatically registered as an end user, with a single username and password to access both their user and administrator accounts.
— Group Access Keys are more readily available, contained within an email message automatically sent whenever the account is changed.
— Email is automatically sent to the corporate administrator whenever the available userband seat count drops to 10% or less.
Easier, More Intuitive User Interface
— A new, tabbed "My Home" layout logically organizes research, saved searches, personalization options, and usage statistics.
— Additional dynamic help is built in throughout the Web site for real- time online training.
— The Browse and PowerSearch functions have been improved to add more flexibility and ease of use.
IDC has additional enhancements planned for IDCNet in spring 2000.
