IDC/LINK Completes Fielding On New 1998 Residential Telecommunications Survey

FRAMINGHAM, Mass., April 30, 1998 — IDC/LINK today completed fielding its largest syndicated telecom survey ever, providing detailed information on residential telecommunications services, including wireless services and products, telecom brand image, and telecom service bundling. Part of this study of 5,000 U.S. households focused on residential local and long distance phone service, Internet service, and cable and satellite TV service.

Households were asked about their use of and interest in CLASS, voice messaging and email, multiple phone lines and high bandwidth data services. Cross tabulations will be by RBOC region and, for selected data, by 17 geographic regions, several of which are one-state regions.

The results of this survey are now being compiled and will be published during the second quarter. Clients of IDC/LINK's Residential Telecommunications Services Continuous Information Service will receive the survey as part of their ongoing services.
