IDG and Reed Extend Alliance To UK Channel Titles

BOSTON, May 11 — IDG and Reed Business Information, a division of Reed-Elsevier, today announced that Reed's newly acquired titles, focused on distribution channels for computer products, will join IDG's global network of channel-related titles including 18 channel publications in 17 countries worldwide.

The new Reed titles, all published in the UK, were acquired from Dennis Publishing, and include market leadersMicroscope, The VAR and Business and Technology.

According to Media Monitoring Service, the addition of these titles bring the market share of IDG's network of channel-related titles in Europe to 45%, compared to 15% for CMP and 11% for VNU.

"We are excited that our new cluster of titles will extend our recently announced alliance with IDG," said Neil Stiles, Publishing Director of the Reed Computer Group. "Since IDG has the only global network of channel titles, advertisers will have truly one-stop-shopping to reach channel audiences worldwide."

Earlier this year, the two companies announced a strategic alliance to co-market the UK's leading IT publication, Computer Weekly, and Corporate Networks titles, allowing Reed to gain access to IDG's global marketing network, which includes 285 publications in the 75 countries that represent 95% of worldwide IT spending.

"IDG is pleased to add these seven leading titles to its rapidly expanding global line of channel publications," said Kelly Conlin, president, IDG. "It extends IDG's leading presence in the global channel market and reconfirms our commitment to the important UK market."

IDG has the broadest and fastest-growing family of channel-related publications in the market, including the recently launched Solutions Integrator in the U.S. market, Computer Reseller World in China, and Computer Partner in the Netherlands. IDG also serves IT resellers through trade shows such as Internet Commerce Expo (ICE) and provides channel-focused research services through its global research arm International Data Corporation (IDC). In addition, IDG Channel Services Group hosts four IT channel events in conjunction with Baptie & Company, focusing on distribution channels across six continents, including Europe, Latin America, North America, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

IDG will continue to expand its global leadership role in the channel market with the launch of several new print and Web publications as the company continues to serve the important and strategic channel segment of the IT market.
