IDG Appoints Dario Dal Piaz President of IDG Brazil

BOSTON, MA – JUNE 10, 2003 – International Data Group (IDG), the world's leading technology media company, today announced the appointment of Dário Dal Piaz to president of IDG Brazil. A knowledgeable executive with an in-depth understanding of the telecommunications market and extensive experience in defining strategies for companies introducing new businesses in Latin America, Dário will strengthen IDG Brazil's position as the leading producer of IT publications in the region. In his new post, Dário will manage the operations of existing publications like Computerworld, PC World, and World Telecom, and launch new titles.

Most recently, Dário was vice president of Latin America at the Yankee Group's regional headquarters in Sao Paulo, Brazil, which he helped establish in 1998. For four years, Dário developed the Yankee Group's competitive strategy in the Latin American market, hiring a strong team of directors, managers, and analysts who developed more than 60 consulting projects for local telecom operators, IT vendors, service providers and investors.

Prior to the Yankee Group, Dário gained industry experience as a product engineer and product marketing manager at various companies including Equant, Damovo, IBM, and Itautec. An established industry speaker, Dário last year delivered more than one hundred speeches at IT Leaders conferences, as well as regional shows such as Telecom Forum, Telexpo, Comdex and Wireless World, among others.

Dário holds a MBA from Universidade de Sao Paulo and a BS in electrical engineering from Institiuto Nacional de Telecomunicacoes. He is a member of the Telecom Users Counsil of ANATEL, Brazil's telecom regulator; and coordinator of the American Chamber of Commerce Telecom Group. He is currently finishing a book about the telecom deregulation process in Brazil.
