IDG Appoints Network World’s Evilee Thibeault To President And Publisher, John Gallant To Executive Vice President /Editorial Director
BOSTON, MA – August 18, 1999 — International Data Group (IDG), the world’s leading provider of IT media and information services, today announced the promotion of Evilee Thibeault to President and Publisher, and John Gallant to Executive Vice President/Editorial Director of Network World, Inc. In their new roles, Thibeault will take on the additional responsibilities of setting the strategic direction of the company as well as continue to oversee all operations including circulation, production, marketing, advertising and sales; Gallant will focus his considerable talents on the publication’s editorial, online and events content and direction as well as manage the business responsibilities of the event operations. A 17-year industry veteran, Evilee Thibeault has held the position of Senior Vice President/Publisher since 1996. Throughout her tenure at Network World, she has demonstrated a firm grasp of the networking market, providing advertisers with a clear perspective on the industry and offering keen insight and knowledge on what it takes to build and maintain successful branding campaigns. John Gallant was most recently Senior Vice President/Editorial Director for the publication. With more than 15 years of experience covering the networking space, Gallant set the strategic direction for the newsweekly and guided Network World, Inc.'s (NWI) seminar and educational event content. Currently, Network World is the leading network media company offering an integrated array of print, online and event options.

Thibeault joined Network World in 1989 as Marketing Communications Manager and was promoted to Vice President of Marketing/Associate Publisher in 1991. For the past three years she served as Senior Vice President / Publisher. Her proven market and publishing knowledge contributed significantly to Network World's leadership position as the industry's number one network publication. Thibeault is most recognized for helping package the Network World, Inc. brand to include the industry’s leading online service, Network World Fusion and the Network World Seminars and Events. Prior to joining Network World, Thibeault was Advertising Director for Motorola Corporation. She also served as Marketing Communications Manager for McGraw Hill’s Data Communications magazine. Thibeault began her career as a Research Analyst for CMP’s Information Week in 1982. Thibeault graduated from the State University of New York with a B.A. in psychology and attended graduate school at Syracuse University.
Gallant joined International Data Group (IDG), the parent company of Network World, Inc. , in 1983 as a staff writer for Computerworld. Gallant helped launch Network World in 1986 as its Managing Editor and in 1988 was promoted to Editor-in-Chief. In 1991 Gallant was promoted to Vice President, Editorial and in 1994 he was promoted to Senior Vice President, Editorial. Earlier this year, Gallant was promoted to Senior Vice President/Editorial Director. Gallant was named to MC’s 1999 list of "Top 25 Technology Influencers" for the third consecutive year. Highly visible in the industry, Gallant is a frequent speaker at conferences such as ComNet, Comdex, NetWorld+Interop, Internet World, ATM Year and the Communications Managers Association. He developed the concept and hosted many Presidential-style Showdown debates at major trade conferences. He is on the advisory boards of the NetWorld+Interop, ComNet, Internet Commerce Expo and Broadband Year conferences. Gallant began his career as a correspondent at The Middlesex News in Framingham, Mass. Gallant holds an M.A. in journalism from Boston University and a B.A. in economics from Boston College.
