IDG Captures Seven Awards at 2002 Folio: Show For Excellence in Magazine Industry
BOSTON, MA – OCTOBER 31, 2002 – International Data Group (IDG), the world's leading technology media company, today announced that its publications Computerworld, PC World, Bio-IT World, InfoWorld, and Network World won top honors at the 2002 Folio: Awards Show. The Folio: show is comprised of two separate awards – the Folio: Ozzie Awards, and the Folio: Editorial Excellence Awards. IDG publications were recognized in categories such as best design, new magazine, best media kit design, and best use of digital imagery. The awards were announced Tuesday night at the 2002 Celebration of Excellence Awards Gala held at the 2002 Folio: Show in New York City.

The Ozzie Awards honor excellence in 15 aspects of magazine design. PC World and Bio-IT World won in the following categories:
Best Design of New Magazine, gold (b-to-b under 35,000) – Bio-IT World
Best Media Kit Design, silver (consumer) – PC World
Best Use of Digital Imagery, silver (consumer) (June 2001 Tips issue) – PC World
Folio: Editorial Excellence Awards
The Editorial Excellence Awards honor overall quality and reward achievement in accomplishing a magazine's editorial mission. Publications were rated on how well they fulfilled their mission statements as well as the quality of their content. In the business-to-business/ computing category, Computerworld won a silver award; in the business-to-business/ technology category, InfoWorld won a gold award for their May 2001 issue; and in the business-to-business/telecommunications category Network World won a gold award. In the consumer/computing category, PC World won a gold for their April 2001 issue.
This year, the Folio: Awards received thousands of entries submitted by consumer, trade, association, and custom publications. The entries were evaluated by a panel of distinguished judges and were rated on how well they satisfied the criteria within each category.
