IDG Communications Media Brands Receive 42 Editorial and Design Awards in National Competition ; ASBPE Recognizes CIO, Computerworld, CSO, InfoWorld, Macworld, PC World, and Network World
FRAMINGHAM, MA – JULY 14, 2008 – The American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE) has honored IDG Communications, based in Framingham, with 42 gold, silver, and bronze Azbee awards at ASBPE’s national conference last month. Computerworld.com received Web site of the Year recognition and Network World was named MultiPlatform Presentation winner.
The judges wrote that computerworld.com’s overall digital orientation is apparent and they cited its “clean look that does a great job of organizing a huge amount of material,” adding, “articles are top-notch.” For the MultiPlatform award, Network World was recognized for its 2007 Salary Survey that included print and online information that the judges found was “extremely useful…a reader can use the print article for basic info, and then go online to analyze numbers. The online salary calculator is especially nice interactive value. With a live online chat with a recruiter, the value grows exponentially.”
IDG brands won all three awards in special anniversary categories created to celebrate 30 years of Azbee awards. CIO and CSO took home the honors as the top magazines since 2000 and cio.com was chosen as the top Web site since 2002.
The national competition includes business-to-business, trade, association, and professional magazines as well as Web sites and newsletters.
Among the 19 gold honorees are the following:

“It is very gratifying that IDG Communications is among the leaders of all media companies in earning recognition for the quality of its editorial and design,” said Bob Carrigan, CEO, IDG Communications. “The ASBPE judges also noted the accomplishments of computerworld.com and Network World for their integration of print and online content.
