IDG Entertainment and The NPD Group Partner for Chartbusters, the Number-One Media Source for Accurate Gaming Information

OAKLAND, CA – SEPTEMBER 7, 2004 – Monthly Charts in GamePro Magazine Provide Consumers with the Most Timely and Accurate Information on Gaming Industry's Top Sellers.GamePro magazine, the flagship publication of IDG Entertainment and the video game industry's most trusted multiplatform magazine, and The NPD Group, the industry's most respected provider of market intelligence, have partnered to bring video game consumers the most accurate and up-to-date monthly gaming charts.

Dubbed "Chartbusters," this monthly page of up-to-the-minute information compiled from The NPD Group's in-depth market research expertise will chart the top-selling console and PC games, as well as accessories and other game-related data each month in GamePro magazine and on GamePro.com beginning in October 2004. Chartbusters will be the leading source for charted information, giving consumers and industry insiders alike the most timely and accurate snapshot of the game industry's top-selling titles as well as editorial insights provided by the experienced GamePro editorial staff.

"IDG Entertainment is extremely thrilled to partner with The NPD Group for Chartbusters," said Daniel Orum, President of IDG Entertainment. "They are the leaders when it comes to market research for the gaming industry. This is a pairing of two well-established and well-respected industry veterans whose mutual goal is to make Chartbusters the definitive media source for timely, reliable sales data."

The agreement between IDG Entertainment and The NPD Group is structured such that GamePro magazine and GamePro.com will have the rights to publish various sales data charts compiled monthly by The NPD Group. These monthly charts will cover various topics, including top-selling titles within specific genres, consumer and demographic sales data and top-selling licensed video game titles, to name a few. In addition, Chartbusters will have the flexibility to adjust content according to industry trends and reader feedback by taking advantage of the depth of The NPD Group's research. This will ensure that the content will be both entertaining and informative to readers and industry alike.

In addition to providing information covering the gaming industry, Chartbusters will also branch out into home and personal consumer electronics. Utilizing consumer electronics sales data from The NPD Group, a monthly tech chart will appear in Gamestar magazine, IDG Entertainment's new entertainment magazine written for the mass-market adult gamer and tech toy aficionado.

IDG Entertainment and The NPD Group's Chartbusters will begin in the November 2004 issues of both GamePro and Gamestar magazines, which hit newsstands in October.
