IDG Introduces PC World In Nigeria
BOSTON, MA – DECEMBER 6, 2000 – International Data Group (IDG), the world’s leading IT media and information services company, announced today the launch of PC World Nigeria. This new monthly publication is designed to give West African IT managers the most up-to-date information available on the implementation of workgroup and corporate technology.
PC World Nigeria is a localized version of IDG’s PC World, featuring regional news and events coverage. Targeted at West Africa’s technology professionals, the publication also includes product reviews and in-depth articles examining the planning, purchase and use of computer products.
With the West African economy projected to continue its significant growth over the next several years, this region is fast becoming fertile ground for technology growth and investment. The Information Technology Association of Nigeria conservatively estimates that annual computer hardware and accessory imports into Nigeria are valued at $242 million, while annual imports of software sales and support service are valued at $350 million.
“Research from The Information Technology Association of Nigeria indicates that West Africa has an increasingly rapid rate of technology adoption in the corporate environment –creating a need for reliable, localized technology information,” said Kelly Conlin, IDG president and CEO. “With the launch of PC Word Nigeria, IDG now publishes leading technology titles in more than 80 countries. IDG is committed to continuing its expansion in high-growth technology markets such as West Africa.”
The premier issue in December will feature coverage of local IT industry news and events, as well as management issues affecting the planning, purchase and use of computer products; management concerns regarding the implementation of technology in workgroups, departments and small/home office; and how to use the Internet for information on testing, performance, pricing, reliability, service and support for technology products.
