IDG Launches GameStar in Poland
BOSTON, MA – MARCH 24, 2003 – International Data Group (IDG), the world’s leading technology media company, announced today the launch of GameStar (www.gamestar.pl) in Poland. Targeting Poland’s gaming industry executives, GameStar will meet the information needs by providing up-to-date information and a comprehensive and reliable methodology of game testing and evaluation. The Polish edition will join IDG’s already established product line that reaches Germany, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and the U.S.
Led by Editor in Chief Marcin Lejman, GameStar delivers previews, reviews, strategies and codes on pc games, targeting teenagers and young adults aged between 15 and 30 years old. Published as a monthly, the first issue of GameStar has a folio of 132 pages and 14 ad pages with advertisers such as CD Projekt and Play-It. GameStar reaches an initial paid circulation of 50,000.
"Our mission is simple," said Supervising Editor Jacek Lech Komuda. “GameStar is created by game players for game players. We will inform and comment. We will approach every game with enthusiasm, but only recommend the best ones.”
Every issue of the magazine will include the following sections:
News and announcements – As a result of collaboration with IDG’s German editorial board, Polish GameStar will have access to materials that are unavailable to other Polish gaming magazines.
Game reviews – Using a set of very stringent criteria, GameStar will describe games, recommend the good ones and identify the weak ones. By providing quick information about the quality of the game, GameStar will inform the reader about the difficulty level, and real hardware requirements.
Advice – Presenting advice, strategies, tactical solutions and practical information, this section will detail the descriptions and maps of the game worlds, printed in the form of posters.
Hardware tests – Branded with the PC World Komputer monthly logo, this will provide reliable and credible information about the latest equipment.
