IDG Launches New Publications in Sweden
BOSTON, MA – APRIL 24, 2000 – International Data Group (IDG), the world's leading provider of IT media and information services, announced the launch of two publications in Sweden, IT AKTIER and Den Nya Ekonomin (DNE). This brings the total number of titles published by IDG in Sweden to 20, and comes on the heels of a recent IDC/World Times Information Society Index report in which Sweden surpassed the United States as the world's dominant information economy, with more than 40 percent of its 8.8 million residents now connected to the Internet.
IT AKTIER, a new monthly publication focuses on IT stocks in the Swedish market. With a projected circulation of 20,000, the publication targets the Swedish financial and IT communities and covers investment tips, commentary and market analysis in an informative, upbeat style. Epo.com and several Swedish financial services firms have already signed on as the publication's first advertisers. IT AKTIER's companion Web site, http://itaktier.idg.se, was launched last October. The Web site features Sweden's most popular stock and investment chat site, as well as an Internet trading service handled by TeleTrade.
Den Nya Ekonomin (DNE), translated as The New Economy, is a monthly publication examining the behind-the-scenes issues of innovation in the workplace, team decision making, knowledge management, branding and organizational structure. Aimed at Swedish professionals, the publication features three sections: "Companies," "The World Around Us" and "The Individual." DNE seeks to unearth trends before they become popular and spotlight interviews with the `movers and shakers' of the new economy. The publication has a projected circulation of 31,500 and has already signed on such industry leaders as IBM, SAP, Icon Medialab and Cell Networks as advertisers for its premier issue.
"IDG operations in Sweden have undergone tremendous growth in the last few years, marked by rapid industry expansion and strong leadership in all of the company's major lines of business, including expositions, publishing, research and online," said Bengt Marnfeldt, general manager, IDG Sweden. "IDG brings together more buyers and sellers of technology products and services than any other media company in Sweden. With more than 80 journalists, 20 publications, 28 Web sites, DM solutions and events in Sweden, DNE and IT Aktier join a growing portfolio of trusted information resources designed specifically for the Swedish IT community."
Last month, IDG Sweden launched four new Web titles – including JobUniverse.se, Itaktier.idg.se, booksonline.idg.se and Plus.idg.se. IDG Sweden's gateway to a broad spectrum of news, insightful commentary and product reviews – www.idg.se – has close to 2,800,000 hits each month and 400,000 unique visitors according to an independent survey (SIFO).
