IDG Names Mary Dolaher CEO of IDG World Expo
FRAMINGHAM, MA – MAY 1, 2007 – International Data Group (IDG) today announced the promotion of Mary Dolaher to CEO of IDG World Expo.
Dolaher will oversee IDG World Expo's suite of events, spearheading the new video game show "Entertainment for All(TM) Expo" (E for All(TM)) and industry-leading brands such as Macworld, LinuxWorld, and more. Additionally, Dolaher will facilitate new business development, with particular focus on creating dynamic communities around each show.
According to a report from American Business Media president & CEO, Gordon T. Hughes, and published April 25, 2007 by the Center for Media Research, the face-to-face events industry is a rapidly growing, critical part of today's integrated business media environment.
"Mary Dolaher is a strategic thinker who is leading IDG World Expo in new directions," said Bob Carrigan, president, IDG Communications. "Her 20-plus years of experience leading major events will help make IDG World Expo one of the top-rated exposition companies in the world."
Dolaher's first mission at IDG World Expo is to launch "Entertainment for All Expo" (E for All). E for All is a new event created for all people who are passionate about video games and everything related. The Expo was launched in response to strong demand for an event that connects all segments of the market – consumers, media, retail and the people who create and market the games. E for All offers an increasingly diverse consumer marketplace the opportunity to see and try new products before they reach store shelves. Event organizers anticipate its mid-October dates will launch an early and successful holiday shopping season for the industry.
"I've been in the exposition industry for much of my career, and I know that IDG World Expo has the opportunity grow significantly," Dolaher said. "In these past months, as I've worked with the team of top-notch professionals at this organization – with the talent and dedication they bring to events – I know we can look forward to expanding IDG's suite of successful events and providing outstanding experiences for our exhibitors and attendees."
Before joining IDG World Expo last fall, Dolaher was Senior Vice President at of the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), where she directed the video game industry's annual Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). Prior to her 12 years at E3, Dolaher was Director of Corporate Communications.
