IDG Outpaces Ad Page Growth of Market, Competitors in Europe, Middle East and Africa For Q3 2000

BOSTON, MA – JANUARY 23, 2001 – International Data Group (IDG), the world’s leading IT media and information services company, again outpaced other IT media companies in Europe during the first nine months of 2000, according to recent data from AC Neilsen MMS. IDG’s share of total advertising pages was 32.5 percent, more than 10 percentage points higher than its nearest competitor, VNU, that had a 21.8 percent share.

Networking and Channel Titles

IDG networking publications increased advertising pages by 22.8 percent compared to an overall market growth of just 6.8 percent. IDG publications such as Sweden’s Netverk & Kommunikation (up 31 percent), Poland’s Network World (up 15 percent), and Portugal’s Network World & Telecom (up 15 percent) led this double-digit growth.

Ad pages within IDG channel publications grew 8.3 percent during the nine-month period – led by Dealer World Spain, IT Branschen Nordic titles (including Norway, Denmark and Sweden), Computer Partner Germany, and Dealer World Portugal.
