IDG Promotes Eric Ochs To Managing Director of IDG Communications S.A., France
BOSTON, MA – NOVEMBER 5, 2002 – International Data Group (IDG), the world's leading technology media company, today announced the appointment of Eric Ochs to Managing Director of IDG Communications S.A. (France), in addition to his current position as Managing Director of IDC. Ochs will succeed Managing Director Gérard Adamis who is leaving to spend more time with his family and to explore other personal opportunities.
Adamis is turning over the leadership of IDG France after 18 years with the company, and four years as Managing Director. Responsible for the growth and development of IDG's "Channel" product line, Adamis also served as publisher of Distributique. Under his leadership, IDG France developed new Internet initiatives and product launches – most recently, the launch of CIO. Today, IDG France produces five technology magazines and websites, and three technology events.
Ochs' new position is in some ways a homecoming for Ochs, who served in various management roles in IDG France, including Editor of Info PC before, leaving to become Deputy Managing Director, and then Managing Director of IDC France, the leading French IT market research company. At IDC France, Ochs brought the company to significant sales and profitability levels with a leading position in the French IT, telecommunications and Internet markets. Over his six years as Managing Director, sales have doubled, and operating margins have tripled. IDC France is currently conducting an executive search for a successor to Ochs.
"Gérard has played an essential role in IDG's growth and we are extremely thankful for the 18 years he dedicated to developing our French and European operations," said Patrick Kenealy, CEO of IDG. "We are also very proud to promote one of our strongest leaders to succeed Gérard in France, the number five IT economy in the world. Eric made IDC the research leader in the French IT market, and we're glad to have him back on the publishing side of our French company so he can do the same."
"Backed with a strong team, a portfolio of established products, I am ready to tackle the challenges and the opportunities that face France's technology media industry," said Ochs of his new job, "IDG has been publishing computer magazines and newspapers here since 1981 and our proven ability to navigate past business cycles provides a foundation for IDG's continued leadership in France."
In addition to his IDG and IDC responsibilities, Ochs serves as partner and member of the Chairing Committee of the Leonardo Finance Network of Business Angels, and member of the Investment Committee of Ventech. He is married with two children and holds an MBA in Management and Marketing.
