IDG World Expo and Fueldog Events Launch New Event for Wireless Sensor Networking

FRAMINGHAM, MA – DECEMBER 16, 2003 – IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows, conferences and events for technology markets around the globe, and FuelDog Events, a developer of tradeshow concepts and solutions, today announced the launch of Wireless Sensing Solutions™ – an event for the burgeoning industry of wireless sensor networking. This new event will address the evolving standards and emerging technologies in the wireless sensor and mesh networking marketplace.

Wireless Sensing Solutions will debut September 21-22, 2004 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois (adjacent to O’Hare International Airport).

Wireless sensors communicating via wireless intelligent networks are drawing the attention of a wide variety of industries, from manufacturing to health care to defense and homeland security. Organizations of all types and sizes are finding applications for these intelligent sensors, which can communicate wirelessly with each other to process and analyze information as it is gathered.

According to GMD Resources, Fueldog Events’ Consulting and Research affiliate, this market is anticipated to grow to over $10 billion in sales by 2010. Wireless sensing unit sales should grow from less than 30 million units today to close to 1 billion in that same period.

Wireless Sensing Solutions will explore the promise of wireless sensor networking – based on sophisticated mesh networking techniques – while providing a unique forum for engineers, marketing managers, senior managers, and system and application developers to discuss evolving standards, interoperability, technologies and product strategy.

“There’s probably no other area in wireless technology that’s attracting more attention and interest than sensor-based meshes,” said Craig J. Mathias, a principal with the wireless advisory firm Farpoint Group and a member of the Wireless Sensing Solutions Advisory Board. “The potential is far-reaching, across a vast array of applications and markets. This is the perfect time for an event focused on the huge array of possibilities in this rapidly-emerging space.”

Wireless Sensing Solutions will attract key constituencies in such areas as industrial and building automation, defense and homeland security, municipal applications, supply chain and health care who need to learn about the vendors, applications and standards driving the future of wireless sensor networking. The event will feature a comprehensive educational program addressing standards deployment, integration issues and application development, while providing valuable technology overviews and case studies.

Wireless Sensing Solutions is being developed with the help of industry leaders at the forefront of this emerging technology, including:

· Craig Mathias, president of Farpoint Group

· Todd Riedel, COO of Millenial Net

· Tim Scannell, president of Shoreline Research

· Shiv Bakhshi, research director at IDC

· Rob Poor, CTO of Ember Corporation

Wireless Sensing Solutions is co-developed and co-produced by IDG World Expo and FuelDog Events. For more information on the event, visit www.wssconference.com.
