IDG World Expo Appoints GES As Official General Service Contractor
FRAMINGHAM, MA – NOVEMBER 18, 2002 – IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows, conferences and events for IT markets, today announced that it has appointed GES, a premier provider of global exhibition and event services, as its official general contractor to handle all IDG World Expo events. IDG World Expo's agreement with GES takes effect beginning with Macworld Conference & Expo, to be held January 6-10, 2003 at San Francisco's Moscone Center.
As general service contractor, GES will fulfill all major show services, such as material handling, event decorating, custom furniture, cleaning, electrical supply and transportation logistics. GES will provide its services to exhibitors at all IDG World Expo events, including Macworld Conference & Expo, LinuxWorld Conference & Expo, COMNET Conference & Expo, Bio-ITWorld Conference & Expo and Integrated Security Conference & Expo.
"GES is highly respected in the industry, and many of our exhibitors have been working with the company for some time," said Charlie Greco, president and CEO of IDG World Expo. "Our decision to go with GES was based on a combination of factors, including the company's high-tech event expertise, its presence in the cities where we currently hold and plan to hold events, and its international presence – factors that fit well with our growth strategy."
"GES has produced an incredible number of technology shows over the past several years with great success," stated Paul Dykstra, president and CEO of GES. "This experience, coupled with our National Servicenter and our world class show floor executives, will afford the IDG World Expo show exhibitors the level of support they need to have a great show experience."
"We are very excited about our new partnership with IDG World Expo," stated Sal Infurnari, senior vice president, International Sales & Marketing for GES. "Our relationship enables us to utilize our global resources together to improve our product for our respective exhibitors."
The agreement with GES follows the announcement in August of Nth Degree as IDG World Expo's preferred exhibitor appointed contractor (EAC) service provider. That agreement protects exhibitors' right to select the suppliers of their choice, while designating Nth Degree as the preferred supplier of installation, dismantle, and project management services, as well as value-added services including audience acquisition and pavilion management that complement IDG World Expo's exhibitor marketing programs.
"GES and Nth Degree will provide IDG World Expo exhibitors with unsurpassed service, and that quality of service is a high priority in our leadership strategy," said Darrell Baker, vice president of event services at IDG World Expo.
GES provides exhibition and event services in every major convention market across North America, producing the most recognized trade shows in the industry including IMTS, MAGIC, National Association of Broadcasters, ConExpo/ConAgg, Food Marketing Institute and National Plastics Exposition. Headquartered in Las Vegas, GES is a wholly owned subsidiary of Phoenix – based Viad Corp (NYSE:VVI). Tradeshow services include exposition general contracting, exhibitor services and event support.
