IDG World Expo Completes Successful LinuxWorld and Launch of Inaugural Next Generation Data Center Event ; Conferences Attract Thousands of Attendees, Garners Significant Industry Attention with Cutting Edge Program

FRAMINGHAM, MA – AUGUST 9, 2007 – IDG World Expo today announced the successful completion of LinuxWorld® and Next Generation Data Center™ Conference & Expo (NGDC™), both of which were held August 6-9, 2007 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. Combined, the two conferences attracted more than 11,000 participants and 200 exhibitors from around the globe. LinuxWorld alone experienced a 10 percent increase in attendance from last year. The events showcased the latest open source and data center technologies and boasted conference programs with more than 100 educational sessions across nine tracks, including desktop Linux, mobile Linux and virtualization in the data center.

Key themes that resonated throughout the show were Linux on the desktop, mobile Linux and virtualization. Access, Dell, and Motorola showcased their line of mobile and desktop Linux solutions, while were focused specifically on virtualization: “Virtualizing the Data Center: The Road to Infinite Capacity,” by Werner Vogels, Vice President & Chief Technology Officer, Amazon Web Services; “Linux and Virtualization: On the Road to Ubiquity,” by Kevin Kettler, PhD Chief Technology Officer, Dell, Inc.; and “Virtualization: The Next Wave,” by Mendel Rosenblum Chief Scientist and Co-Founder, VMware.

The exhibit floor featured key companies that are driving the future of Linux, open source, and the evolving data center including Astaro Corp., Barracuda Networks, COPAN Systems, Dell, Eaton, Fujitsu, Gentoo Linux, HP, IBM, Intel, Levanta, Motorola, Novell, Oracle, Opengear, Palm Inc., Rackwise, Scalix Corporation, SugarCRM, ubuntu, Verio and many more. Many exhibitors leveraged high foot traffic and the media spotlight on both LinuxWorld and NGDC to announce their latest product and service offerings or other breaking news relevant to the industry.

Additional highlights of the conference included keynote presentations from executives at eBay, HP and Novell; more than 100 conference sessions, labs and tutorials; the Golden Penguin Bowl; Developer Days held by ACCESS, Motorola and Wind River; and Novell Best of BrainShare Program.

“We’re extremely pleased with this year’s LinuxWorld and the turnout for the launch of NGDC,” said Melinda Kendall, General Manager, IDG World Expo. “The keynotes were standing room only, the exhibit hall was crowded with attendees, both conference programs were well attended and media coverage of the event was tremendous. Several new programs, including Linux and Open Source 101, our Mobile Developer Days and the Linux on the Desktop Showcase were extremely well received. We look forward to making 2008 even better.”

All of the keynote addresses from LinuxWorld and NGDC can be downloaded from the LinuxWorld web site at www.linuxworldexpo.com , or the NGDC web site at www.ngdcexpo.com .

An official audit of the actual number of attendees will be available by October, 2007
