IDG World Expo Introduces Online Conference Planner For LinuxWorld NY 2002

FRAMINGHAM, MA – NOVEMBER 13, 2001 – IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows, conferences and events for IT markets, announced today that attendees can now personalize their conference schedules and social engagements at LinuxWorld Conference & Expo with the My Show Planner online conference planner. Accessible via the LinuxWorld Conference & Expo Web site (http://www.linuxworldexpo.com), My Show Planner allows users to plan ahead to make the most of their time at the upcoming LinuxWorld Conference & Expo, held January 29 – February 1, 2002 at New York City's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

Users of My Show planner can browse and actively search more than 70 tutorials and conference sessions, as well as keynotes and feature presentations, to develop the educational programs best suited to their needs. The tool alerts users to time conflicts, and session categories are color-coded to make the selection process easier. A special Personal Activity scheduler also allows users to book meetings or times to visit the Expo floor. Users do not need to be registered for LinuxWorld to use this handy tool.

"By allowing attendees to control their own schedules, My Show Planner helps them make the most of their time before they get on-site," said Darrell Baker, vice president, event services, IDG World Expo. "Our research indicated that LinuxWorld attendees wanted more tools to help them make well-informed decisions about how they spend their time at the show. We think they'll find that our online conference planner fits the bill."

Attendees using My Show Planner will find plenty of compelling content to fill their calendars. Keynote addresses will be delivered by Carly Fiorina, chairman and CEO of Hewlett-Packard Company; Sanjay Kumar, president and CEO of Computer Associates, and William Zeitler, senior vice president and group executive of IBM's Server Group. Scott McNeil, executive director of The Free Standards Group, will host a feature presentation entitled "Building the Foundation for World Domination: Free Standards for Global Markets & Individual Empowerment." Conference track topics range from embedded Linux to business and legal issues to Internet hosting, and from system administration to the Linux desktop to standards.

To use the LinuxWorld online conference planner, click on the "My Show Planner" link on the home page of the LinuxWorld site (http://www.linuxworldexpo.com), and register by setting up a username and password. Users who sign up for My Show Planner will have access to all conference program content, and their information will not be shared with any third parties. Registration and exhibiting information for the event is also available on the LinuxWorld Conference & Expo Web site.
