IDG World Expo Launches Comnet First: Outsourcing Summit at Comnet 2004
Framingham, MA – DECEMBER 2, 2003 – IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows, conferences and events for technology markets, today announced the debut of the COMNET First: Outsourcing Summit at COMNET® Conference & Expo. Hosted by the MSPAlliance, this half-day program will provide important insights for managed services and IT outsourcing companies who want to deliver more compelling services, as well as end users who want to make more informed decisions about outsourcing.
The COMNET First: Outsourcing Summit will help participants jump-start their outsourcing strategy for the year by addressing the critical issues affecting the IT outsourcing industry for 2004. Participants will gain an understanding of the proper role of managed services in an IT department, as well as the alignment of IT outsourcing and business. The program will also look at the increase of government regulation and its corresponding effect on IT departments.
The COMNET First: Outsourcing Summit will take place at COMNET on Wednesday, January 28, 2004 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. COMNET Conference & Expo runs January 26-29, 2004 at the new Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.
According to the 2003 MSPAlliance Managed Services Benchmarking Report:
· More than 90% of clients renew their contracts with their IT outsourcing providers
· More than 80% of managed service providers saw growth in their managed services revenues in the last 12 months
“There is a fundamental shift taking place in the way companies view their own IT infrastructure and outsourcing is now becoming an accepted, if not indespensible method of dealing with the increasing complexities of IT,” said Charles Weaver, president of the MSPAlliance. “The MSPAlliance is very happy to be involved with COMNET as both of our organizations educate companies about this vital and growing business practice.”
The COMNET First: Outsourcing Summit is designed for managed services and IT outsourcing companies interested in improving their business models, delivering more compelling service offerings to their clients and adding best practices. The Summit is also valuable for end users who want to better understand the benefits of IT outsourcing, how to make complex outsourcing decisions easier and how to clarify the myths of outsourcing.
Sessions will be presented by members of the MSPAlliance Customer Advisory Council and the MSPAlliance Best Practices Board. Presenters include Gary Cato, vice president of MaxUse; Mike Backers, CEO of Altoria; James Hare, vice president of SilverBack Technologies; Scott Chasin, CTO of MxLogic; Will Yan, vice president of Auspice and Ronald Sable, managing director of Guardent.
“Fortune 100 companies have long used outsourced services, and in the past, because of the massive tools used by the outsourcers, this was a service denied to small and mid-tier sized companies,” said James Hare, vice president of worldwide sales for SilverBack Technologies. “SilverBack is very pleased to be a part of this important event as we help companies make sense of the IT outsourcing process.”
COMNET First: Outsourcing Summit participants will also receive a complimentary copy of the 2004 MSPAlliance Buyers’ Guide, a comprehensive guide to buying managed services valued at $300.
The cost to participate in the COMNET First: Outsourcing Summit is $195. To register for the Summit and for more information on the upcoming COMNET Conference & Expo, visit www.comnetworldexpo.com.
