IDG’s Accela Communications Forges Strategic Alliance with Primedia Business Magazines and Media

SOUTHBOROUGH, MA – DECEMBER 4, 2002 – Accela Communications, a leading webcast services provider, announced a strategic alliance with Primedia Business Magazines & Media to deliver custom webcast programs to advertising customers, connecting sellers with qualified buyers. The alliance grew from a highly successful webcast program initially deployed by Telephony magazine, a Primedia Business Magazines & Media publication. The two organizations partnered recently to produce, deliver and manage a complete webcast marketing initiative, resulting in a new revenue stream for Telephony.

"We are thrilled to provide webcast services to a major publishing enterprise like Primedia Business Magazines & Media," said Bill Reinstein, President and CEO of Accela Communications. "Partnering with Primedia Business Magazines & Media to offer lead-generating webcasts to their advertisers, is exactly in line with our mission to accelerate business growth for our partners and their customers."

In a recent webcast leading to this alliance, Telephony maximized its online offerings by providing its customers with the ability to develop a custom webcast on telecommunications content, leveraging the Telephony editorial experts and targeted audience reach. Using the AccelaCast TM platform, full-service video production, content direction, and promotional management services, Telephony received seamless project management from concept to completion. Additionally, Accela Communications provided both Telephony and its webcast customer with access to its Lead Evaluation And Delivery Systems TM (LEADS) to view webcast registrations, analyze audience demographic data, generate reports and respond immediately to new sales leads. As a result, the Telephony webcast:

Generated over 900 total registrants to date from a highly specific niche market

86% viewers were very satisfied with the program content and stated they'd like to receive information on future webcasts

82% found the webcast content to be "extremely valuable or valuable"

"We are always searching for new vehicles to enhance our print and online advertising services, and felt that custom webcasts presented an expanded opportunity for Primedia Business Magazines & Media and our advertisers," stated Ron Wall, President of Primedia Business Magazines & Media. "We chose Accela Communications as our webcast partner because the knowledge and support they provided to Telephony went beyond just technical services, demonstrating a commitment to making their partners successful. We anticipate that a partnership with Accela Communications will offer an even wider range of marketing solutions for our clients."

Primedia Business Magazines & Media's webcast services include the ability to pick a bundled webcast package or take a more tailored approach by selecting from a variety of optional features available such as extended hosting, expert moderators, content director, industry analyst, foreign language localization and promotional management packages.
