IDG’s Bio-IT World Expands Management Team; Appoints Alan Bergstein Publisher

BOSTON, MA – JANUARY 16, 2002 – Bio-IT World, Inc., IDG's new business unit established to support the rapidly emerging technology information needs of the life sciences market, today announced the appointment of Alan Bergstein to vice president and publisher, Diane Lieberman to vice president of marketing, and Deborah Walsh to circulation director of the publication, Bio-IT World. Scheduled to debut in March 2002, Bio-IT World is the first publication devoted to chronicling advancements in the bio-IT market which accelerate research and development in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, biochemical, healthcare and agricultural industries.

New Additions to Management Team

With more than twenty-five years of publishing experience, Alan Bergstein joins IDG as vice president and publisher of Bio-IT World, where he will oversee sales, marketing and circulation for the new publication. Bergstein was formerly with CMP Media as vice president and associate publisher for InformationWeek. Before joining CMP Media, he held senior management positions at Cahners Publishing and Benwill/Morgan Grampian Publishing.

Diane Lieberman, vice president of marketing, joins Bio-IT World from THINQ Learning Solutions, where she was director of content sales. She brings more than 20 years of industry experience to the team including senior publishing management positions at CMP Media, PennWell Publishing Co. and The McGraw-Hill Companies. Lieberman also founded OtseGo-Getters, Inc., an upstate New York advertising agency and held editorial positions at Tri-Valley News and The American Banker. Lieberman received a B.A. from SUNY at Stony Brook.

Deborah Walsh, circulation director, will oversee all circulation initiatives and projects for Bio-IT World. Walsh bring 18 years of circulation management experience to her new position. Most recently, she served as circulation director for PUBLISH magazine where she planned and directed new business strategies for web audience development, list rental management, and e-newsletters. She also held circulation positions at PennWell Publishing and Yankee Publishing, Inc.

Also new to Bio-IT World's sales team are Capel States, vice president of Eastern regional sales; Alan El Faye, vice president of Western regional sales; and Jeffrey Hyman, account manager. States has held management and sales positions at CMP Media and Line 56; El Faye's experience includes Advanstar and The McGraw-Hill Companies; and Hyman joins from CMP Media and held previous positions with CMGI.
