IDG’s BioITWorld Conference & Expo Expands Asia Event Schedule

BOSTON, MA – FEBRUARY 28, 2002 – Following the success of the first international BioITWorld Conference & Expo held earlier this year in Hong Kong, International Data Group (IDG), the world's leading technology media company, today announced it will expand the conference's presence in Asia by adding additional shows in Taiwan, Singapore and Beijing. BioITWorld Conference & Expo will debut in the United States March 12-14, 2002 at the World Trade Center in Boston.

"As the premiere event of IDG's international BioITWorld series, BioITWorld Hong Kong far exceeded our expectations with its high attendance and strong exhibitor support," said Gary Fung, managing director of IDG World Expo Asia Ltd. "The event proved to be an important venue for Asian companies to come together and learn about the latest technologies being used to accelerate, analyze and interpret the flood of information being produced in the life sciences industry. To meet growing demand by Asian audiences, BioITWorld Conference & Expo has added additional shows in Taiwan, Singapore and Beijing."

U.S. debut of BioITWorld Conference & Expo

The first U.S. BioITWorld Conference & Expo will take place March 12-14 at the World Trade Center in Boston and will be followed by a West Coast BioITWorld event August 13-15, 2002 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. Produced by IDG World Expo, BioITWorld is the only U.S. event to focus specifically on how information technology is transforming the life sciences industry throughout the entire discovery and development processes. Dr. Eric Lander, founder and director of MIT Whitehead Institute Center for Genome Research, and a world-renowned contributing author to the human genome-mapping project, will deliver the opening keynote address for the Boston event. Roy Dunbar, CIO of Eli Lilly and Company and Michael Capellas, chairman and CEO of Compaq Computer Corporation, will also deliver keynote addresses. More than 70 IT and life sciences companies will exhibit at the Boston BioITWorld event, including Compaq, CuraGen, EMC, Hewlett-Packard, IBM Life Sciences, Inforonics, NeoCore, Network Appliance, Scimagix and Sun Microsystems.

IDG Expands Asian Event Schedule

The next Asian BioITWorld Conference & Expo will take place in Taiwan July 8-9 at the Taipei International Convention Center. BioITWorld Singapore will take place at the Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Center, May 28-29, and the third Asian event will be at the Beijing International Convention Center, July 2-3.
