IDG’s Computerworld Launches Mobile and Wireless Conference for Enterprise Decision-Makers

FRAMINGHAM, MA – SEPTEMBER 30, 2002 – IDG's Computerworld today announced the launch of a new conference focused exclusively on the information needs of mobile and wireless decision-makers in the enterprise. Mobile & Wireless World provides a forum for executive-level end-users to discuss and develop strategies for deploying innovative mobile and wireless applications, devices and services across corporate enterprises. The inaugural Mobile & Wireless World (M&WW) conference will take place January 12-15, 2003 at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort, Indian Wells, Calif.

The M&WW audience will include corporate executives and IT decision makers responsible for mobile computing and wireless data communications products and services in their organizations. Prominent decision-makers from major organizations will attend M&WW on an invitation-only basis. Nominations of appropriate end-user executives from the event's sponsors will augment Computerworld's proven ability to build robust audiences of decision-makers at critical IT events. A limited number of publicly available registrations will be offered for a registration fee.

"According to IDC, the mobile and wireless market will grow from $72 billion in 2003 to $94 billion in 2004. This burgeoning industry has an acute demand for a conference that keeps enterprises abreast of the substantial benefits of and latest developments in this exciting technology sector," said Ron Milton, vice president and general manager of Strategic Programs at Computerworld. "Mobile & Wireless World, with its focus on the perspective of user companies, steps up to fill the void for an enterprise-level event in a arena with tremendous growth expectations."

M&WW is owned and produced by Computerworld, an integrated media company with a strong reputation for generating qualified audiences and delivering world-class educational IT events. Computerworld produces M&WW in alliance with MobileTrax, LLC, a professional services firm focused on the mobile computing and wireless data market and founded by principal analyst Dr. J. Gerry Purdy.

"We have teamed with Dr. Purdy of MobileTrax, LLC because of his strong reputation in the mobile and wireless industry and his past success producing executive conferences for leading IT decision-makers," commented Milton.

"There are innovative mobile and wireless applications cropping up every day, and identifying those that benefit the enterprise can be an overwhelming task for those responsible for deploying them in user companies," noted Purdy. "By teaming with Computerworld, the IT industry's premier publication and event producer, we will be able to provide a top-quality conference experience for the enterprise IT end-user and a solid source of lead-generation opportunities for sponsors. Mobile & Wireless World will help decision-makers sift through the available technology to determine how their organizations can capitalize on some of the most innovative mobile and wireless opportunities emerging in the marketplace."
