IDG’s CXO Media Names Derek Slater Editor in Cheif of CSO Magazine

FRAMINGHAM, MA – March 20, 2006 – IDG’s CXO Media, award winning producer of CIO and CSO magazines, today names Derek Slater editor in chief of CSO magazine (http//www.csoonline.com). Slater is a 10-year veteran of CXO Media and helped conceive and launch CSO magazine in 2002. Prior to his work on CSO, Slater served as Executive Editor for CIO magazine, writing on a variety of information technology and business issues.

“Derek is a trusted confidante and advisor to the CSO community,” says Bob Bragdon, publisher of CSO magazine. “His longstanding relationships with our readers, as well as his eye for cutting edge journalism, will serve him and the editorial staff well as he steps into this new leadership role.”

Adds Slater, “Security leaders are a great audience to serve—smart people doing challenging and important work. It’s an honor to work for them and also a great privilege to work alongside CSO magazine’s extraordinarily talented editorial team.”

Both Bragdon and Slater will present at the CSO Perspectives conference, taking place today through tomorrow at the Hyatt Huntington Beach Resort in Huntington Beach, CA. Convening 200+ of the nation’s chief security officers to discuss strategic tactics for survival in an increasingly insecure business climate, the conference also honors recipients of the CSO Compass Awards for their leadership, innovative thinking and effort in advancing security awareness, policies, technologies and practices. Jonathan Zittrain, chair of Internet Governance & Regulation at the University of Oxford, serves as the conference moderator and keynote speaker.
