IDG’s CXO Media Names Publisher, Sales Leadership For CMO Magazine

FRAMINGHAM, MA—July 15, 2004—Award-winning CXO Media Inc., a publishing company that caters to corporate officers’ information needs, today named the publisher and sales leadership team for CMO magazine, a new magazine dedicated to the nation’s chief marketing officers (CMOs). Debuting as a monthly in September, the new magazine will provide today’s senior marketing executives with high-level information, best practices and strategic insights to help them manage all the pieces of the marketing portfolio and understand how IT can be leveraged to justify value and ROI.

CXO Media President and CEO Walter Manninen made the announcement following a lengthy search. “It’s my pleasure to name Stephen Twombly the Publisher of CMO magazine. Twombly’s charge is to develop and oversee the business strategy for securing our newest magazine’s advertising revenue base and, in the future, relevant and timely product extensions based on the needs of chief marketing officers. His proven track record in business development, coupled with his knowledge of the significant challenges facing today’s marketing executives, will serve him well in this new endeavor.”

A seasoned industry veteran with 25 years in publication management for business-to-business and consumer magazines, Twombly joins CMO from Advanstar Communications’ Sensors magazine, where as Group Publisher, he oversaw brand repositioning; strategic planning, and product integration. His distinguished career includes executive service at Natural Health, New Age Journal, Body & Soul and Datamation magazines. Twombly is no stranger to IDG, having served in business leadership positions with PC Resource and Solutions Integrator, as well as the consumer special interest computer magazines AmigaWorld, RUN, inCider, and 80 Micro.

Twombly leads a distinguished team of CMO magazine sales professionals. Vickie Pinsky, East Coast Director of Advertising Sales, brings seventeen years of publishing sales and sales management experience to CMO magazine. She previously held advertising sales positions with Fast Company and PC magazine. Pinsky’s West Coast counterpart is William B Wise. Wise boards CMO magazine with 15 years of sales and business development experience across print and online advertising mediums. Wise previously worked for The Boston Globe and PC Computing magazine. The sales directors are responsible for customer relationship management, and advertising sales for their assigned regions.

Premiering in September 2004, CMO magazine and its companion website, will provide cutting-edge content and new ideas to help marketing executives better manage and integrate the diverse portfolio of marketing disciplines – and the intricate relationships that surround them. The content will be a mix of best practices, case studies, useful tools, and practical advice to help CMOs work through the complex issues they face on a daily basis. The magazine’s goal is to be insightful, and more than a bit provocative.
