IDG’s Federal Computer Week Wins Approval of Magazine Format and Editorial Usefulness in Survey

FALLS CHRUCH, VA. – APRIL 21, 2000 –The results are out, the redesign of Federal Computer Week is a success.

FCW Government Technology Group, publisher of Federal Computer Week released the results of a recent survey on the redesign and editorial content of the weekly publication that provides news, technology and analysis to federal IT professionals.

Survey participants praised the convenience of size, organization of content, pointers to the Web and accessibility of information, on the redesign of the publication. Comparing the magazine to tabloid format, 73 percent found the magazine format more useful. When asked to identify the publication most useful in doing their jobs, four times as many named Federal Computer Week as any other government IT publication.

"The Federal Computer Week redesign provides readers with more news and analysis of events in the federal IT market," said Allan Holmes, editor of Federal Computer Week. "The survey reaffirms that FCW delivers the kind of information that federal IT professionals need to do their jobs."

The survey was conducted by Decision Data Collection of McLean, Va. and consisted of 209 interviews with government subscribers to Federal Computer Week. Sixty percent of those interviewed are in federal civil agencies, and 40 percent are in the Department of Defense.
